Resurrection Burden

‘God doesn’t need you to DO SOMETHING for Him. He wants you to BE SOMETHING because of Him.’ -Jim Putnam The resurrection of Jesus Christ has been explained, unpacked and reviewed time and again this week. It has been interesting to watch the students react to learning the true weight of what happened in the death and resurrection of Christ. Jesus overcame death, sin, the enemy and satisfied God’s wrath. It has become evident that the more students understand why Jesus had to die and what he accomplished on the cross and in the resurrection, the more students realize the invitation to serve the creator. Jesus didn’t die for pity, he died to invoke worship of God’s limitless power. Understanding well Jesus’ resurrection leads to understanding well our responsibility and opportunity as Christians. Probably the most felt response to the resurrection teaching in our students has been a burden for their friends who do not know Jesus; a burden for those around them everyday who do not know the hope of Jesus. I am encouraged and overwhelmed as I think of the revival that could take place in the schools of Holland, Michigan if just half of our student return with this burden for their lost friends and act on these convictions. Please pray with me that this school year will be a year filled with students far from God being introduced to the hope of Jesus through our students’ faithfulness.
